I'm gonna let you in on a lil secret about the fastest people on the planet....
They DON'T run with parachutes OR use agility ladders!!!
Now, I know you have been conditioned to think that those pretty shiny things you see those jacked up models do on Nike and Under Armor commercials is the way to become the fastest player on the field, but the truth is...those things are KILLING your speed development!!!!
If you wanna know how to develop more linear speed and run a blazing 40 time, the formula on how to do so is more simple than you might think...
You see, linear speed is a product of stride length and stride frequency...
So the stronger, more flexible and the faster we can produce the max amount of force we can, along with the ability to master sprint mechanics, the faster we will be...
That said, you're still gonna have to focus on sprint work to do so...
But when do we do that?
Simple!!!
Because the sprint induces the stretch shortening cycle the same way all other plyometrics do, and it is a highly explosive movement that requires 100% of your attention, I always prescribe sprint work right after our dynamic warm up (when we are fresh)....
So if you're sick of running with a parachute downhill through agility ladders, then make the proper change and do what actually works!!!
